Sightings

There’s a belted kingfisher sitting at the tip of one of the turtle-logs, rattling away. Not where I expected to see it. πŸ”Ž

Had to plug back in the trailcam solar charger because some critter had yanked it out. Hope I got of funny closeup of that happening! πŸ”

πŸ”Ž Sources say fishing should be good this summer

Siku would very much like some goose eggs πŸΎπŸ”Ž

    Time for forestry! πŸ”Ž

πŸ”Ž I’ve gotten used to the slow-bop walk of the Great Blue Heron, so when it decides to really haul, its speed catches me off guard.

Update: visit the post for a picture of the heron up close.

Muskrats have been doing some serious bivalve dining πŸ”Ž

πŸ”Ž Gotta darken this up and then use it to release a symphonic folk black metal album. 🎢

πŸ”Ž I was not prepared for a snowy Great Blue Heron

πŸ”Ž I’m enjoying how the critters are making paths on the thin ice.

πŸ”Ž Just saw ten (10!) deer 🦌 run by.

    I don’t think I’ve ever seen more than 4-5 at a time.

πŸ”Ž love the little micro drifts of snow on the ice

πŸ”Ž I like the way the branch looks under the thin ice.

    πŸ”Ž

    Turns out it’s a woodpecker (red-bellied).

    πŸ”Ž Sighting Update 🐦:

Saw two great blue herons fly by at the same time. First definitive evidence that we have more than one.
