🎶 I’m slowly migrating my music to lossless (ALAC) by re-ripping our CDs, re-downloading bandcamp, and re-downloading better files from iTunes and Amazon (where available).
I’m carrying over my ratings from iTunes and Plex and then prioritizing listening to 5-start tracks and unrated items. It has me thinking about my rating system again. It’s now something like:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: I want to hear this again soon
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: Happy to have this show up on a plalist, shuffle, DJ-mode, album, etc.
⭐️⭐️⭐️: Hrm, not sure if this is a good one for me
⭐️⭐️: I don’t really want to hear this
⭐️: Why do I even own this?
Pictured is my “shuffle” playlist, to which I often apply “DJ Stretch” from PlexAmp’s “Guest DJ” modes.
Finally reading the namesake of the band that adorns so many of my t-shirts: Out of the Silent Planet by C.S. Lewis 📚🎶
Behold my brilliant commentary during this Merlin Bird ID recording.
CYBER*NAILS
I like that Turtle Willow is still heroically sending out new growth every year, despite being downed and climbed upon.
May we all be so resilient.
Just noticed (remembered) that we put May 19 on the calendar as a holiday. “Bodexpress Day”
⚽️ Sad it’s falling apart with #IXI, but I do hope Indy gets a successful MLS bid. Can we not do a military-themed title this time?
I’m not the first to say something like this, but it bears repeating:
In the USA, you are more likely to get arrested for blocking traffic than for striking and killing a pedestrian or cyclist
The commerce must flow.
I glanced at my email and saw this:
Waar schrijf jij je takenlijsten op?
Thought it was weird spam for just a second before realizing it was Dutch. 😆
foreign aid package for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan
So weird to see these together in the same sentence, but I know the reason is roughly “they’re all allies of the USA government, who are scared of the other involved parties” despite one of these being on the opposite end of the “powerful aggressor is threatening territory” equation.
⚽️ You can now get an #IXI jersey with the “anarchy firefly”.
📚 Some good earth day sales from one of my favorite publishers (Library of America), including Aldo Leopold, Rachel Carson, John James Audobon, John Muir, Frederick Law Olmstead, Wendell Berry, Edward O. Wilson, and more.
Great animal day:
- tons of great blue heron activity (flying, stalking, wading, on Turtle Willow, & Turtle Stick)
- tiny bright five-lined skink
- wood duck pair (and again on Turtle Willow)
- lots of turtles sunbathing
Rough pond day: some of the land bridge needs further remediation after prior work.
Great Blue Heron has been spotted a lot of times this weekend. Here it is hanging out on Turtle Willow.
🎶 Ok, let’s say I like Propaghandi and Rise Against and hardcore punk (esp. at the metalcore end of the spectrum), but find a lot of punk (esp. pop punk) to be vapid. What should I check out?
🗳️ Axios is doing interviews for Indiana gubernatorial candidates and so far, wow Brad Chambers seems like an adult in the room, compared to Mike Braun.
Edited to add: here are all the republican profiles. He still seems like the only adult. Most of them couldn’t even take the easy win on some of these questions.
The Economist keeps emailing me to renew at a discount, but their renewal page is so broken it won’t even let me. So, no renewal I guess? 🤷♂️
🎶 Ridehail had a giant speaker in shotgun and an iPad for DJing. Had some triphop and dub stuff going, so here’s where I took it:
- Ishome - Eva
- Submotion Orchestra - Angel Eyes
- Massive Attack - Paradise Circus (Gui Boratto Remix)
- Clubroot - Low Pressure Zone
- Synkro - Acceptance
Driver cranked it!
⚽️ Let’s go #IXI
